It is suitable for the mass production of the same alloy products, especially for applications such as can stock, foil stock, and PS plates. It is also applicable to aviation aluminium alloys, high-purity aluminium capacitor foil, and double-zero foil. The flow rate range is 5-100 tonnes per hour. Customised designs can be made according to the flow rate, with common series including 75-tonne, 55-tonne, 35-tonne, 25-tonne, and 10-tonne models.

Filtration Principle

A deep bed filtration tank consists of a tank body and a deep bed filter.

  • For the tank body: Its prefabricated inner lining uses high-quality casting material that matches the quality requirements of the aluminium melt. After high-temperature presintering, it features high strength, scouring resistance, erosion resistance, no slag formation, and no aluminium adhesion.
  • Between the steel structure and the prefabricated inner lining, there are multiple layers of well-insulated thermal insulation materials. The insulation layer is composed of a nano-insulation layer + calcium silicate layer + anti-leakage layer (a multi-layer composite structure). The nano-insulation layer has excellent thermal insulation performance, which reduces the surface temperature of the tank shell; the anti-leakage layer can effectively prevent aluminium leakage from minor cracks in the inner lining.
  • For the deep bed filter: It uses alumina balls and grit sintered via a special process as the filter medium. The filter layer is formed by stacking evenly sized alumina balls (with a diameter of 1/2 or 1/4 inch) and an alumina grit layer (approximately 3-6mm), supported by a support grid plate at the bottom to form the bed structure.

When molten aluminium passes through the gaps between the grit particles (with a length of over 400mm), impurities and inclusions are trapped by the filter layer and separated from the molten aluminium, effectively filtering out slag from the molten aluminium.

The filtering effect can be enhanced by adjusting the filter medium: the smaller the gaps in the medium, the thicker the filter medium, and the lower the molten aluminium flow rate, the better the effect. This design can meet the filtration requirements of most high-end products.
